This Rub-Kor running track in Glasgow opened on 30 May 1971. The surface is black, a mix of rubber and a kind of bitumen that looks like tarmac at first glance, and athletes were completely forbidden from using spikes longer than 5mm on it. Although it sits near Bellahouston Sports Centre, it isn't connected to it and is simply part of the park. It's now in a pretty bad state of repair, the surface chewed up and definitely not able to take a spike. The lane markings have faded, but at least six distinct lanes are visible all the way round, with no extra lanes in the straight. The surface was apparently damaged when the Sports Centre swimming pool was built: the earth dug out went into the centre of the track, which is now a large grassy knoll, though it was once a redgra pitch.
