Additional Information
The track was originally cinder and is in the AW 1962 list of cinder tracks. It is behind the visitors centre and car park on Charlestown Road virtually opposite the junction with Grange Park Road. It is roughly where 'Sports Ground' is marked on the A-Z and not where 'Running Track' is shown. It is not known what this track on the A-Z is or was as the only other sports pitches seem to be grass football pitches in an otherwise fairly hilly and wooded park called Boggart Hole Clough. The Boggart was a small imp-like being who is said to have lived in the Clough probably in Victorian times and caused havoc with local farmers' water supplies.
