A brand new running track and stadium went up in Boston from 2002, at the site of Boston Rugby Club at Boardsides, Wyberton Fen, west of the town, with purpose built facilities for athletes with a disability. The surface was laid and lined in August 2003. It sits within a £7.5 million sports complex that also revamped the rugby facilities. Among the special features are dog pens for guide dogs, guide rails in Braille and ramped access at every entrance. An indoor 6 lane straight and a health club run by Granada are also thought to be here. Pictures from the construction appear on the Boston & District AC website. A throws meeting was due here on 20th June 2004 in memory of the late Tommy Clay, for decades the leading inspiration behind Holbeach AC, and the venue has also been called The Tommy Clay Track.
