This running track in Cardiff opened on 3rd August 1989, originally surfaced in Polyflex 942, laid by Recreational Surfaces Ltd as subcontractor to Kier Western Ltd. The then Mayor of Cardiff performed the official opening on 3rd June 1990. Facilities include a photo finish room, a recorders room and a V.I.P. room, and a full-size artificial turf pitch sits next to the track. Permission has been granted to demolish it to make way for a new football stadium for Cardiff City FC. Work on a new athletics stadium across the road was due to start in February 2004, with the current stadium transformed once that is complete.
