More about University of Durham Track
This running track in Durham was originally black cinder. In its final years as a cinder track, Durham University AC stopped using it, considering it too dangerous, as it was either badly rutted when dry or flooded. It was thought to run 6 lanes all round, possibly more on the home straight. The synthetic upgrade came in 2002, although as of October 2002 only the track itself had been completed. The UAU Champs were held here in 1966.
