The track has existed since at least 1902 as the annual 10 mile handicap race for the Zetland Trophy took place every New Year's Day around this half-mile irregularly shaped cinder track in Victoria Park, Falkirk. The local club Falkirk Victoria Harriers formed in August 1901 and their clubhouse is next to the track on Thornhill Road.
