More about Imberhorne School Athletics Training Facility
Imberhorne School won a Lottery grant to build an Athletics Training Facility, or ATF, on site. Work began in September 2000 and finished on 11th September 2001, when Athletic Markings Ltd. completed the line markings, and the host club started training on it on 11th October 2001. McArdles built the ATF, with Fox Sports Surfaces doing the track surfacing. It consists of a 6 lane 130m synthetic straight with full facilities for field events. A 400m grass running track in East Grinstead was created by levelling an area behind the ATF. That work finished in 2002, but it wouldn't be available until 2003. It will be drained in an attempt to keep it usable in most conditions, though whether it will be available all year round isn't known. The facility is floodlit, apart from the long throws and the grass track. Before the ATF was built, East Grinstead AC used a track at Sackville School, Lewes Road, EAST GRINSTEAD, RH19 3TY, marked out on a redgra arena in summer only.
