There are permanent concrete curbs, although as of February 2000 the top surface partly concealed them, and at first glance you probably wouldn't realise there's a track here at all. The home straight is partly extended at both ends so that 100m races fit. Track and infield football pitch are both fully floodlit, which makes this a potentially very useful inner-city facility. A high fence surrounds the track, though one section of it was missing as of February 2000. It sits next to Malvern Primary School, Forster Street, BELFAST, BT13 1HW and the Hammer Youth Resource Centre, Agnes Street, BELFAST, BT13 1SH, but isn't directly associated with either. There's a pavilion at the track with no signs on it to indicate potential users. There are plans to turn the hard play area into just a football pitch, which presumably means replacing the cinder surface with astroturf.
