The running track in Eltham started out as cinder and was upgraded to synthetic in 1990 with a Spurtan BS surface. A new discus and hammer cage went in ahead of the 2001 season. September 2002 brought a £55K refurbishment: most of the surface was re-sprayed, while the areas around the finish, the 100m start and the bends were replaced. GLL manage the whole facility. They are a charitable social enterprise rather than a commercial leisure company, working with 18 partnerships including 13 London boroughs, running 70 public leisure centres, and committed to providing leisure and fitness facilities at affordable prices and to their partners' aim of increasing participation in sport and leisure.
