The track is so called because the Kenny Trust paid for it to be levelled and drained in the mid 1980s and was the university's only track before the synthetic one was built elsewhere on the UEA campus in 1989. The inside lane is permanently marked and is in good condition but there is room for 8 lanes. Apart from individuals, nobody uses it much. The infield is a football pitch.
