More about Tamworth Sports Stadium
The track was originally cinder (redgra) and built in about the late 1970s. It was upgraded to a Spurtan BS synthetic track in 1995/6 with the help of the first Lottery Sports Award for an athletics project and was first used in 1996. The track is owned and run by Tamworth AC who have a 99 year lease. They are completely independent and do not receive any grants. To help swell club funds they hire out their large pavilion which contains a bar and a function room for weddings, parties and even funerals.
